Serviced Accommodation vs. Typical Rentals

When moving abroad, you are likely to encounter a choice between serviced accommodation and typical rentals. Here are some pointers to help you make an informed choice in this regard:

Furnished vs. Getting Your Own

People choose service apartments simply because they are fully furnished and equipped to meet the needs of modern day living. This may or may not be the case with typical rentals which you may have to furnish yourself. Living in a serviced apartment while abroad means not having to deprive yourself of facilities you want- in fact, most serviced apartments come with many amenities you wouldn’t be able to find outside of a good hotel.

Cheaper Than a Hotel

People find renting a serviced apartment a cost effective and convenient accommodation option while living abroad. They can have all the facilities of a five star hotel room at cheaper rate, albeit much more expensive than a non-serviced apartment.

Serviced apartments as a concept were born out of the need to provide an alternative to traditional hotel accommodation for people who travel with their families and for business professionals who need an accommodation for a longer time than traditional leisure clients.  This is why they are more appropriate when you travel abroad.

One of the main advantages of serviced apartment rentals is that the total price per stay is much lower than a hotel or a residence (if you stay more than 6 nights). Most prices include utility consumption, building expenses and broadband internet connection. All these privileges could start from as low as 60 Euro per night.

Privacy

The privacy that a serviced apartment suite can offer is much better than that in a hotel. This is mainly because you will not need to go through the reception desk in order to invite guests to your room.

Spacious

The total space that serviced apartments offer is much more than that offered by a suite in a hotel (unless of course you stay in the presidential suite). Besides that, the availability of a kitchen is an added advantage that would allow you to save money from going out to eat every day.

Cleaning Up

Most of the luxury serviced apartments and economical serviced apartments provide room cleaning services every week or on alternate days. This is a great help to most people who don’t have time to assist with cleaning of the serviced apartments if they are busy with work or studies.

Facilities on Offer

Serviced apartments offer all the facilities that modern day five star hotels and resorts offer. They have everything from beds, sofa sets, dining tables, modern communication facilities like the internet and direct dial telephones, state of the art entertainment such as large screen LCD/Plasma Televisions, DVD players and satellite connections). Also available at some service apartments are facilities such as gymnasium, swimming pools, shopping centers and play areas.
Some service apartment suites come with fresh towel sets, bed linen and amenities such as hairdryers that you would find in a hotel room.
