"I will honour Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year." A Christmas Carol ~Charles Dickens, Ebeneezer Scrooge, Several years ago, our small town, was graced by a visit from Gerald Charles Dickens, great-great grandson of the author 'A Christmas Carol '.It was the highlight of the town's Victorian Christmas Festival, a seventy -five minute on stage performance and one-man show of a descendant of the beloved author Charles Dickens.Gerald Dickens performed the dramatization with...

The Nest

The latest structure on the Corniche is this wooden heptagon sculpture comprising of seven pillars representing the 7 Emirates of the United Arab Emirates. It was erected on New Year Eve and I'd originally thought they were going to burn it in celebration at 12 midnight, but it seems like it's going to be a permanent fixture. Not really sure how much I like it. What do you think'

Uncle Jo's night on stage!

The Kojima Taro & Hip Band with JO jazz concert in Eufonia Concert Hall here in Shizuoka City was held last Sunday, January 11th. It was totally amazing especially the original latin style jazz of Taro san. One of the most awesome part of the concert was the special song number of uncle Jo. Singing the version of "Just Once" by Quincy Jones... that was really great! Wooow... uncle Jo is back to real stage! Congrats uncle... i am happy for you that you are still active on your singing...

Day 10: Cebu to Manila

26/JanuaryLindsey really wanted to try some Lechon. Which is roasted Pig carcass. Nasty. And, outside the Lechon place, I wanted to save all these puppies. But, I couldn't. And, they are probably puppy mill pups anyways. =/Yes. Of course our henna matches. Geez. We are totally bestest friends.I don't think we did much that day. Really. We just walked around and explored some random things. Caught our flight in the late afternoon, went to the hostel in Manila, and took a tricycle to dinner in...

While we are on the subject of barefaced spam scams here is one from a company called e-page

I consider myself a hardened woman when it comes to Internet scams. I have sneered at offers arriving via Myspace, suggesting that I come and sing at a wedding in Nigeria (and by the way can I give them my paypal details so that they can forward my expenses).Would I like to invest in a rock solid company based near the Goldcoast...? Er, no.But this is the first time I have received hardcopy spam!

Sunday Night

Sunday evenings have never been my favorite night of the week,. There is always that dreaded back to work feeling that looms over everything; and there are always plenty of pesky little jobs that need doing, papers to stuff into bags, uniforms to arrange, permission forms to sign, last minute French homework to complete. My mind starts to wonder towards all the things that need doing this week, what is on the agenda for Monday morning and who I need to call or email. If I am in a particular...

Cape Town Stadium

For Cape Town's, and the Stadium's, second test run before the World Cup, the Cape Town Stadium admitted 40,000 ticket holders to a rugby match, filling two of the three tiers in the stadium. The first test two weeks ago filled only the lower tier.It was built for the FIFA World Cup, coming here in June, but the grass was neatly painted with rugby stripes and the rugby poles looked as though they belonged there. Maybe one day they will.I had been told by people who had attended the first test...

Staying happy & positive!

NH in February is a huge challenge for me. It is not just the bitter weather (-20's), the cabin fever, the dried saw red hands and face, knowing that winter will go on for at least 3 more months it's the WTF are we living here for'When the weather stops you from normal every day activities such as walking the dog. I have to wear full snow gear, a fleecy mask & goggles as the snow is swirling around whipping at my body. The thought of having to get out of the car as you need to buy milk & you...
