Education Services in Czech Republic

The education system in Czech Republic, which is free and mandatory, requires all children beginning at the age of six until age fifteen to attend school. When children reach grade five, they are given the option of moving to an upper school or continuing basic schooling, which lasts four more years. Foreign national students coming from the EU member states can also attend school for free, but those coming from non-EU countries require a valid residence permit in the Czech Republic. Since the medium of instruction in school is the Czech language, expat students may need to attend language courses first.
