Moving Services in Ireland
There are legal requirements for moving to Ireland, but these are subject to frequent change. In general, most Europeans may enter Ireland freely, and anyone may enter freely via the United Kingdom, as both nations are part of a common travel area, so that foreigners cleared to enter Britain are assumed to be allowed to enter Ireland as well for up to a month. British, Swiss, and other European citizens are not even required to have a passport to enter Ireland and may use other identification.
Non Europeans who enter Ireland from outside Europe must fill out immigration cards, but a visa is not required for citizens of many countries, including the United States. Nationals of other countries must get a short term visa from an Irish consulate or embassy in their country, which is valid for 90 days from issuance. Irish immigration officials have authority to refuse anyone entry for no reason, even those who have a visa, and they determine how long the short term visa holder is authorized to stay in Ireland, up to 90 days.
Those coming to work in Ireland need a work permit and Employment visa, unless they are European, married to Irish citizens, or refugees, in which case a work permit is not required.
