Pet Import Regulations in Luxembourg

There are requirements that have to be met for relocating pets to Luxembourg. Topping this list is microchip identification which is the only form of identification accepted. Each animal has to arrive with this chip with ISO Standard 11784 or Annex A to ISO standard 11785 or, when this is not available, a scanner must be sent along the animal.

Pet relocation services to Luxembourg can offer indispensable guidance in ensuring a smooth pet import process which also requires full vaccinations for all animals. These vaccines must be obtained 1-12 months prior to the animals' arrival. Dogs must get full shots for Distemper, Hepatitis, Leptospirosis, Parvo, DHLPP and Rabies while cats must be vaccinated against Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calcivirus, Panleukopenia, and Rabies.

As part of pet transport regulations, an EU Vet Health Certificate must be filled out by a government-accredited veterinarian in the animal's country of origin and must not be issued earlier than four months from the pet's arrival. The same veterinarian must also issue a Vet Certificate indicating all required vaccinations have been given.

All animals must arrive together with all the required documents. For pet relocation from EU countries, an EU Pet Passport must be presented. For those coming from non-EU countries, a copy of the owner's Passport must be presented, along with a letter from the owner's employer to prove that he has relocated. Additional documentation may be required as the rules change from time to time. To be updated on these changes, it is good to hire a company offering international pet relocation to Luxembourg services.
