There are a number of government and private medical hospitals, and many specialist clinics scattered throughout the island. The medical facilities in Singapore are state-of-the-art, staffed by well-qualified doctors, nurses and other medical professionals.
Seeking medical help is not a problem in Singapore, to say the least. Most of the major hospitals in Singapore have walk-in clinics. Some clinics may even be found in places such as malls and other civic centers and may operate for 24 hours a day.
The country also has a medical savings account for its residents known as Medisave- under which employees contribute 6-8% of their monthly salaries. This account could be used in servicing various medical fees. But only citizens and permanent residents can avail of Medisave.
And because of the large presence of people of Chinese origin, it is only natural to find clinics that offer alternative or traditional medicine and services. Such practices include acupuncture, reflexology, herbology and tai-chi.
To ensure quality health services, make it a point to go to a licensed practitioner. For more information regarding health and medical concerns, contact the Ministry of Health.
