The first level of schooling can begin as early as 45 days old, and it becomes a requirement at the age of 5. School lasts from 8 to 12 in the morning, and it continues from 1 to 5 in the afternoon. Grades are rated on a scale of 0 to 10. Students in primary school learn about things like languages and communication, art and culture, science and math. Secondary school continues from the ages of 12 to 14, and stresses learning Spanish and foreign languages, physical fitness, creativity and non discrimination. Public school is free in Argentina, apart from supplies and books, but private schooling can be quite costly. Most of the private schools in Argentina are run by the Roman Catholic Church. In Argentina, students can continue to go to a public University or Institute for free, or they may attend a private one.
