Education Services in Belize

Education in Belize is primarily patterned after the British system of education which includes three levels - primary, secondary tertiary - owing to the fact that Belize was once a British colony. Primary education is free and mandatory and runs for eight years, secondary education continues, which is not mandatory but actively promoted, continues for four years, and the tertiary or college level is optional.
