David Silva was born in the small fishing village of Arguineguin, Spain. He grew up with his father Fernando, his half-Japanese mother Eva, his two younger siblings, and his grandparents Antonio Montedeoca and Fernando Jimenez Senior. David admits to learning how to play football when his grandmother gave him and his brother potatoes and oranges to kick around on the street. “I learned to play on the beaches here, in the street, and on the doorstep of my house with my cousin and friends,” he said in an interview with the Dailymail UK.
At the age of 12, he was given the opportunity to join the Real Madrid Youth Team, but he was rejected because of his height. However, two years later, Valencia’s Youth Team signed him up because of his potential. To help him adjust to the move, his family went with him to Valencia. David made his professional international debut in 2005, as part of Valencia CF’s youth system and continued to play for the club until 2010. Currently, David is a midfielder who is representing Spain in the 2014 FIFA World Cup. He was also part of the team that led Spain to its first ever World Cup Championship in 2010.
