Health Insurance in Chile
In general, health insurance in Chile is free to all residents and constitutes three percent of the wages of Chileans. Expats who have legal resident status in the country may also enjoy the same public health insurance benefits on the same basis as locals. However, if they want to avail of the unemployment benefits, they must have lived in Chile for at least two years; ten years if they want to have the disability benefits; and 15 years if they want to qualify for the pension insurance.
