A: Beijing

Q: What do you do in your new city?
A: Help people by organising get togethers / networking events every Tuesday, monthly Escape Concrete Beijing Daytrips and by providing advice about living and working in Beijing. www.fcgroup.org

Q: How is the quality of life in your new city in comparison to that of your home city?
A: Pollution worse, traffic congestions worse everything else better.

Q: How would you rate the healthcare system in which you are currently enrolled?
A: Western run medical facilities are super expensive. Good medical insurance is essential.

Q: How does the cost of living compare to that of your home city?
A: It depends on your lifestyle. It is possible to live on almost nothing if one lives like a local, if you insist on only using the same products that you used at home it is far more expensive.

Q: Did you use a relocation company to help you with your move?
A: No.

Q: How easy or difficult was the relocation process?
A: The use of an experienced Destination Service Provider is highly recommended.

Q: Did you move here with any family members?
A: No.

Q: What is your favourite mobile app which you use to aid you in your expat life?

A: Hanping CE – it’s a Chinese – English dictionary that supports input in pinyin (romanized Chinese)

Q: What is one piece of advice you’d like to offer a new expat in your new city?
A: Don’t stay in a foreign enclave and get rid of the concept that everything in your home culture is better. Enjoy the difference.
