Q: Where are you originally from?

A: England

 

Q: In which city are you currently residing?

A: China

 

Q: What do you do in your new city?

A: A Wealth Manager.

 

Q: How is the quality of life in your new city in comparison to that of your home city?

A: Socially for families excellent, the expat families in the area we live are all very close - our main concerns centre around the environment and food.

 

Q: How would you rate the healthcare system in which you are currently enrolled?

A: Very good but we haven’t had the need to use it yet.

 

Q: How does the cost of living compare to that of your home city?

A: Shanghai is very expensive particularly for families.

 

Q: Did you use a relocation company to help you with your move?

A: No.

 

Q: Did you move here with any family members?

A: My wife and 2 boys.

 

Q: Did your spouse and children find it difficult to adapt to their new job and schools?

A: At first yes but in the main they have made the transition very well.

 

Q: How did the family, including you, do in acclimating to the new culture and surroundings?

A: We threw ourselves in to a point, I wouldn’t say we have fully immersed ourselves though.

A: HiShanghai

 

Q: What is one piece of advice you’d like to offer a new expat in your new city?

A: Make sure your wife and children are in an environment where they feel safe and happy.
