Expats moving to Egypt with their pets should take note of the following requirements needed by the local authorities regarding pet relocation: microchip attached to the animal that is compatible with international standards; animal should have full vaccinations approximately four weeks prior to arrival in Egypt; original vaccine certificate of the animal stating name of pet and owner, breed, sex, birth date, age and vaccine information; and APHIS form 7001 issued within ten days of departure. The pet owner must also be present upon the arrival of the animal into Egypt and be aware that the bombings and riots may upset their pet.
