Asian Nations Top World’s Best Countries for Expats

Asian Nations Top World’s Best Countries for Expats - Expatfinder.comAsia may not be booming, but it is growing sustainably, according to international bank Standard Chartered. The emerging and robust economies and vibrant cultures entice many expats into the region. Many foreigners are able to live comfortably in many Asian countries because of the inexpensive cost-of-living. Dean Blackburn, Head of HSBC Expat, said: “Over the years, we have seen expat wealth gradually heading east, with emergent, and now indeed fully emerged, regions like the Middle East and Asia becoming more and more popular with expats.”

British banking giant HSBC has recently conducted a study on the most liveable countries for foreigners. About 7,000 expats across more than 100 countries took part in the Expat Explorer Survey.  this year. The poll, the largest of its kind in the world, covered questions concerning economics, experience and raising children. “Expat Explorer is well established within the expat community and we’ve seen how they have been enthusiastic to share their experiences by taking part in the survey each year. Now in our sixth year, we want Expat Explorer to deliver even greater insights by getting even more respondents from more countries to participate,” HSBC’s Mr. Blackburn said.

The HSBC Expat Explorer Survey’s ranking was classified into three different categories which are Economics, Experience and Raising Children Abroad. The ranks are as follows:

Economics Experience Raising Children Abroad Overall Ranking
Switzerland Thailand Germany Germany
China Bahrain Singapore Germany
Qatar China France Singapore
Thailand Cayman Islands New Zealand Cayman Islands
Cayman Islands Australia South Africa Australia

Asian countries have been seen a consistent presence in the said survey. Here are some of the Asian countries that topped this year’s Expat Explorer Survey:

Thailand

Thailand was ranked first in the poll, passing all the criteria covering expat experience. The results showed that foreigners living in Thailand enjoy a quality life through benefiting factors such as healthy living, working environment, social life, and local culture and norms. About 76% of the survey respondents said that camaraderie is highly valued in the Thai society, a value that drives its growing expat community.

China

China jumped from 7th last year to 3rd primarily due to its economic stability and overall experience it provides expats. The results showed that seven out of 10 respondents choose China because of better job opportunities.

Singapore

Singapore, which was last year’s top expat destination, has landed to the 6th spot. It remains as the safest place in the world to raise children.
