Qualifying Recognized Overseas Pension Schemes or QROPS are pension schemes set up outside of the United Kingdom that allow British expatriates and international workers no longer residing in the UK to avoid additional tax, penalties and regulations associated with UK Pensions and gain greater flexibility and sometimesgrowth with their investments. The pension scheme must be recognized by Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs (HMRC) and must be regulated by the country establishing the pension scheme. The QROPS is also required to be recognized for tax purposes by the establishing country.
