The Ins & Outs of Regency’s Terrorism-Inclusive Plans
Due to the heavy financial burden of bulk claims, several insurers opt to exclude terrorism in their health insurance cover. Alternatively, some offer it as a rider or separate plan, which the policyholder will have to pay for separately. One insurer, however, has decided to include the cover free of charge in their plans. In this article, we examine those plans and break down the details for you.
Who & Why
The insurer in question is Regency for Expats, a subsidiary of Regency Assurance and a long term licensed insurance company regulated by the Financial Services Regulatory Commission, which sells international private medical insurance (IPMI) to globally mobile individuals, families and employees.
The Terrorism Cover is officially launched only recently, in mid-December 2016. Explaining the rationale behind the unconventional move, Business Development Executive, Kayla Hall said, “Global security has always ranked highly as a concern for expats, and we are pleased to be able to include this valuable coverage. The inclusion of Terrorism Cover is another step we have taken to ensure our clients can have total piece of mind.”
“Our clients will be travelling and be based in some extremely remote locations, be it Iraq, Afghanistan in the Middle East, Columbia in South America or throughout Northern Africa. Given the current environment and rise in mobility, this coverage has become an essential part of an overall healthcare plan,” she added.
About the Plans
The inclusion is applied on all four of Regency for Expats’ IPMI plans, tiered as follow:
- Major Medical – covers inpatient treatment only
- Standard – covers for inpatient and outpatient treatment
- Comprehensive – covers for inpatient, outpatient, dental and health checks
- Fully Comprehensive – Provides full cover for services that are only partially reimbursed in Comprehensive such as anaesthetist, surgeon and organ transplant fees. Additionally, it covers a longer rehabilitation period and provides higher hospital care benefit.
All plans include global security, psychology, global assistance and death benefits. For greater flexibility, evacuation & repatriation is optional and can be added on for an affordable premium.
Under both group and individual policies, medical expenses incurred in the event of terrorism can be reimbursed. This includes related acts such as hostage negotiation, hijacking and mugging.
Do take note that the payout is capped for certain items. View the summary below for more information:
