Backpacker

Many travel insurance companies offer a backpacker bundle, which include a host of optional covers mentioned above for adventure activities. This plan allows the insured to be covered in various countries in one long trip of up to 18 months. A trip under a regular annual plan usually limits you at a month per trip. Some plans also cover you while you work or volunteer overseas. However, do take note that these plans are usually targeted at young travellers and they have an age limit.

Family/group cover

Enjoy the economies of scale and save around 10 per cent at the minimum! As long as you depart and arrive at the same time, the plan can cover about 20 people. This is great for big family, corporate and class outings.

The insurance package differs across the insurers. There are plans that specialise in areas such as cruise insurance, and family-friendly ones that cover children below 18 for free.
