Question in Pregnancy
Question : As a pregnant expat mom, would it be better to give birth to my child in San Francisco or my home country?
Answer from Catherine Stone, expert in Pregnancy
It depends upon the care you would get in your home country, and how confident you are with that. You can bring a baby to San Francisco, although travelling with a little one before six months of age is not recommended. As you know, if you birth a child in the US, that child has American citizenship. US doctors are more impersonal, and you will probably not have a close relationship with your doctor here, mainly because of the numbers of patients they have. Often your doctor for prenatal care will not be at your birth.
