I am hiring a container to move personal belongings to the Azores however i want also to bring some building materials, fittings and tools with me. Much of this will be new and have VAT paid in the UK. Can i be charged anything like vat or duty on anything arriving in The Azores from UK. The customs will charge you the fees and VAT yes, because you are not a company or a subject of VAT so you will have to pay.
