Question in Family and Children

Question : How do I prevent my child from being bullied in school for being a foreigner in the city/country?

Answer from Dr. Patricia Jaegerman, expert in Family and Children

Being a foreigner in South Florida means to be part of a very large community represented in all schools. There are many immigrants from all over South America and the Caribbean, and many companies have their international offices here, most children have the experience of interacting with children and/or parents from other countries, with other accents, and other customs. As children are often naïve, they may express curiosity for someone from a country not usually represented; however, being a foreigner is rarely a source of bullying in South Florida.
