Question in Healthcare

Question : What are the best healthcare options for expats in Belgium?

Answer from Aurélie Steinbach, expert in Healthcare

The government healthcare coverage, referred to as compulsory state insurance, covers approximately 75% of the medical costs (doctor, specialist, medication) of the legal cost set by the Belgian state. As from 2012, all public health insurance providers have the obligation to offer Advantages & Services for a small membership fee. It provides very specific reimbursement, for example, a membership at a sports’ club, optical material, holidays for children, vaccinations, etc. This is considered as the basic insurance package.

You also have the option to take out additional insurance for hospitalisation and dental care.
