Returning to the United Kingdom after an overseas assignment is an ideal time to re-think what you have been doing and what you want to do for the next phase. Make best use of the opportunity to dream a bit and work out what you ideally want to be doing next. If you/your spouse’s company offers you no direct help in terms of ongoing career once you return, I suggest you get in touch with a careers coach/advisor/life coach to help you move forward. Preferably find someone with experience of being overseas themselves or of working with expatriates, so that they can provide understanding on your journey as well.
