When preparing to give birth in any location, it's important to do things that make the mom feel safe and supported. I suggest that women find a prenatal yoga class to attend on a regular basis, along with establishing a relationship with a doula (professional birth assistant).It will be important for women whose native language is something other than English, to have someone who can translate, or make sure that the mom has enough time and information to make informed decisions about the care she is getting and the choices she is making. I also suggest that the mom/couple take a childbirth class that is taught as a series. This will enable them to meet other couples and make some new friends in the area.
