Question in Family and Children
Question : What kind of medical insurance can I have as a pregnant expat in Seoul?
Answer from Adele Vitale, expert in Family Life
International insurance companies such as Cigna, Bupa, Allianz etc. all cover prenatal appointments and birth, to various degrees. Some even refund childbirth preparation classes and doula services. Korean employers must offer coverage under the National Health Insurance system. For long-term residents, additional health insurance for mom and baby can be purchased but the payment plan is usually minimum 20 years long.
