Pet Import Regulations in Hong Kong

Because pets are like family, they often move when their masters do. In Hong Kong, this will be a breeze.

Requirements

Pets can enter Hong Kong with a special permit issued by the Hong Kong Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department, plus an animal certificate from the country of origin. Pet owners must ensure that the pet has a microchip; provide a health certificate indicating rabies vaccination and good health issued by a local veterinarian no earlier than 30 days prior to departure from Hong Kong, complete vaccination records, a residence certificate proving the animal has resided in its country of origin for at least 6 months, an import permit and a certificate from the airline indicating the pet travelled non-stop to Hong Kong. All documents must be written in English and Chinese.

All animals considered endangered as puppies and kittens younger than two months or pregnant animals cannot enter Hong Kong. Those that  come from UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, US, Canada, Singapore, Germany, France, Spain and other European countries will be quarantined before their owners can take them home.

Pet relocation services can offer indispensable help in easing the process of pet import. Expats who are too busy to manage the requirements can simply search online and find a reputable company to whom they can confidently entrust their pet import concerns.
