There are legal requirements involved in moving to Luxembourg, depending on what country an immigrant is from. There is no visa requirement for those persons who live in most of the countries in Europe, but they should register if staying in Luxembourg longer than 90 days. For nationals of certain countries, however, it is a requirement that they obtain a visa before coming to Luxembourg. A long stay visa is for those remaining in Luxembourg longer than 90 days. A passport valid for 15 months and birth certificates, marriage certificates, medical certificates, a work permit, passport sized photos, a police record, proof of income, and proof of insurance are among the requirements for a person to get a visa from a Luxembourg consulate. In addition, all foreigners coming to Luxembourg, even from other European Union countries, need to register within three days. Those moving to Luxembourg should also apply for a foreign ID card if they are planning to stay in Luxembourg for longer than one year. This also requires a medical certificate, police report, long stay visa documentation, passport sized photos, work permit, etc. New residents will need to pay 10 to 30 euros depending on what country they are from for a tax stamp.
