Education Services in Russia
In Russia, public educational systems are considered to be of very good quality, with a literacy rate of 98 % of the public who are able to read and write in the Russian language. Education for all children who are between 6 and 15 years of age is compulsory. Russian students must attend primary school from the age of 6 to 10 years old, then senior school from the age of 10 to 15 years old. The student then has the option of taking another 2 years of senior school and proceeding on to higher education at a university or other tertiary educational facility.
School in Russia is in session from the beginning of September until the end of May, and exams are conducted in the month of June. The Russian student's school day begins at 8 in the morning, continuing on until 2 in the afternoon.
Students in Russia have to learn about Russian history, Russian language, Russian literature, world history, science and maths, in addition to other school subjects. Grades are issued on a scale of 2 to 5, with 5 being the best possible score. There are not very many private schools in Russia, and those there are tend to be International schools where English is taught.
