Mir M. Sadat - Expat in Tainan City, Taiwan

Mir M. Sadat - Expat in Tainan City, Taiwan

Q: Where are you originally from?
A: Iran

Q: In which city are you currently residing?
A: I am living in Taiwan, Tainan City. I moved to Taiwan in Jan 2011 to study my master at National Chiayi University (NCYU) and also study my Chinese.

Q: What do you do in your new city?
A: After I graduate from NCYU, I got a position at Eminence Precision Industrial Company as a Global Sales Engineer.

Q: How is the quality of life in your new city in comparison to that of your home city?
A: I came from Tehran, capital of Iran. Tehran, the city itself looks more modern and fashion. But due to economic and political crisis in Iran, the life quality in Taiwan is better for me. I love the people here in Taiwan, they are the best in hospitality.

Q: How would you rate the healthcare system in which you are currently enrolled?
A:It is incredible, actually your national Taiwanese insurance cover many things and you just need to pay a little money to visit a doctor, and everything else including medicines, test, etc., all for free.

Q: How does the cost of living compare to that of your home city?
A: Cost of living in Taiwan is low, but it depends on the amount of salary you receive here. Most of the things here are cheaper than Iran, and my salary is much more due to currency exchange rate in recent years in Iran.

Q: Did you use a relocation company to help you with your move?
A: No, I was educated enough to do it by myself, but of course I asked other expats to learn more.

Q: How easy or difficult was the relocation process?
A: As I had a reason to move (studying), not hard at the beginning.

Q: Did you move here with any family members?
A: No.

Q: What is your favourite mobile app which you use to aid you in your expat life?

A: Trip Adviser

Q: What is one piece of advice you’d like to offer a new expat in your new city?
A: Understand the culture, do not expect so much, then you will like it! Taiwanese people are very nice, and they love foreigners no difference form where.
