Moving to Taiwan for foreigners is a process that has to be legally controlled by the National Immigration Agency of the Republic of China government. Visitors from most countries of Europe, as well as Japan, may visit the Republic of China without any Visa for 90 days. Canadians and British subjects may extend the time of their visitor visa to 180 days. Citizens of the United States, Australia, Singapore, South Korea and Malaysia may visit for only 30 days with no tourist visa. Indians, Indonesians, Thais, Vietnamese and Filipinos may also enter Taiwan for 30 days provided they have a visa from another western country. Americans who have a passport that is good for less than six months are allowed to get a Visa on Arrival for the price of 5,140 New Taiwanese dollars. Even though people from these countries do not need a visa to enter Taiwan as tourists, they still have to fill out a registration form at an online internet web site that is run by the Republic of China's National Immigration Agency. There is also a special Entry Permit that allows permanent residents of Hong Kong and Macau in mainland China to visit the Republic of China.
