Expat Housing Services in Thailand
There is a great deal of inexpensive rental property available in Thailand, and rental prices are much more inexpensive compared to many nations, particularly in the city most popular with foreigners, Pattaya. Rental contracts in Thailand are commonly for a year, but numerous extra charges may be necessary for moving in.
There are serviced apartments that feature services like bed changing and room cleaning, similar to hotels. Sometimes whole houses can be rented. Town houses are also available in Thailand and are slightly cheaper to rent. The cost of rent can vary from as little as 4,000 Bahts a month for the cheapest student accommodation, up to 30,000 Thai Bahts a month for a luxury serviced apartment. Water, electricity and telephone bills are extra charges, not included in the rent.
Foreign renters are supposed to show their work permit, passport and statement of salary before signing a contract. The apartments tend to be completely furnished - complete with television. Even so, unfurnished apartments can also be found and are generally more affordable. Accommodation is most easily found by word of mouth, but it is also not unusual to find rental properties advertised in newspaper classifieds. Real estate agencies in Thailand are also ready to assist with the search.
