Pet Import Regulations in Turkey
Prior to importing pets to Turkey, one should understand Turks view on animals. Some Turks consider dogs to be “unclean animals,” and dogs are prohibited from entering homes and public transportation.
Be respectful of their custom and put everything into consideration before importing dogs. Of course, this is not applicable to all Turkey nationals; some are dog lovers and use dogs as working animals to guard sheep from predators.
Certain restrictions are imposed on pet relocation in Turkey. A person is allowed to bring only one dog, or one cat, one bird, or 10 aquarium fish.
When relocating pets to Turkey, a veterinary health certificate must be issued not more than 10 days before departure. Dogs should be vaccinated against rabies, distemper, hepatitis and leptospiroz while cats must be vaccinated for rabies.
All vaccinations should not be more than 6 months and not less than 15 days before the travel. These requirements do not need to be lmotarized by either Foreign and Commonwealth Office Legalisation Department or Turkish Consulate General if the owner will accompany the pet during the pet transport.
Rules and regulations are always subject to change. Most pet relocation services in Turkey will have the updated information and will offer to process necessary paperwork. Get quotations from international pet relocation companies in Turkey to get the best deal for a seamless journey for your pets.
