The state run schools are attended by around 90 percent of the students in the United Kingdom, and these schools are usually coeducational, and are free of charge. Parents in Britain have the right to indicate which state school they wish their child to attend, even though acceptance is not certain. The remainder of the student population receives education in one of Britain's 3,200 private or independent grammar schools, which are usually single sex or coeducational institutions. Home schooling and private tutoring are also both perfectly legal in the United Kingdom. School in the United Kingdom is normally taught on week days from Monday until Friday.
