Expat Housing Services in United States
In some areas of the United States, like New York City or Los Angeles, finding an inexpensive place to rent can be hard work. But in most regions it is not that difficult. Many Americans live in homes, otherwise in condos or apartment buildings. Americans in general tend to move around more than Europeans. For this reason there is often much property available for rent, and also much property for sale.
The cost for sale or rent will often be determined by the size of the home. This is usually measured in terms of the number of bedrooms, living rooms, dining rooms, apart from the kitchen and bathrooms. Some apartments can be furnished already, but even unfurnished ones in the US frequently will have a stove, fridge, air conditioner and dishwasher. Because of the large country size, finding accommodation is usually not a problem for expats.
Older apartment buildings often have laundry rooms that are shared among several apartments, while the newer ones generally have their own washer and dryer for clothes. There will, in most cases, be a security deposit in addition to the first month rent to move in. This damage deposit is fully refundable to the tenant assuming no damage has occurred to the property.
