Finding an international school in Ho Chi Minh City

International schools in Ho Chi Minh City are offering the International Baccalaureate Programme (IB). The IB programme is accepted by most universities in America and Europe as a secondary or high school diploma. Some universities may even offer college credit for courses taken in the IB program. 

International schools can be a lot more expensive that normal private schools or public schools in the city, but the IB (International Baccalaureate) programme can be very useful for expat children, as this programme is recognised by most schools anywhere in the world, you won’t have trouble transferring your kids to other schools abroad if in case you move.

School Choices

Since HCMC is a popular expat destination, there are also quite a few international schools in the city. International School Ho Chi Minh City is a prestigious IB programme school which is greatly revered by both expats and wealth locals. Other popular choices for internationals schools in the city are EUROPEAN International School Ho Chi Minh City, and Saigon South International School.

Local schools in Vietnam are still under improvement, and although several efforts are made by the government to update the curriculum used in schools, it’s still far behind the western educational system. The language barrier is a bit of an issue if you send your kid to a local school in Ho Chi Minh City, and the curriculum used by schools may not be very easily accepted by other schools abroad.
